Issue:

When you click the Bluetooth item in Control Panel on a computer that is running Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2), the Bluetooth item does not work as expected. As a result of this, you cannot set up a new Bluetooth device. Similarly, you cannot view or edit the settings for an existing Bluetooth device.

This problem occurs if you install third-party Bluetooth software on your computer and then you install Windows Vista SP2.

Solution:

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Start
  2. Type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
  3. Find and then right-click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\ControlPanel\NameSpace\{28803F59-3A75-4058-995F-4EE5503B023C}

  1. Click Delete. If you are prompted to confirm the key deletion, click Yes.
  2. In the File menu, click Exit.
